Advertisement in Fast Food Resturants

In this article "Fast-food companies aggressively target kids, says comprehensive study" is about advertisement affecting children and teens. Food industries spend $4.2 billion on advertising in 2009. I found it interesting that 40% of preschoolers ask to go to McDonald's at least once a week, it shows that it does affect in some how. Also I think parents are responsible because if their child is hungry they look to go to a fast food restaurant which is fast. About 15% ask to go everyday .
One-third of U.S. children and teens eat fast food everyday. I think parents should limit the exposure to tv advertisements and also taking their kids there if they ask for it. Its horrible that young children have to suffer obesity at such young ages.

How Clean are Fast Food Restaurants?

In this article ''Dirty Dining?" is an article about how clean and safe 10 of our fast food chains are. If we people are hungry we want something to eat that is fast and tasty and fast food restaurants are something close to that. Most people know what goes on in fast food restaurants but why do we still eat it? In each of these 10 chains is 75,000 restaurants.(Taco Bell, McDonald's, KFC, Subway, Jack in the Box, Dairy Queen, Hardees, Wendy's, Arby's and Burger King.) They use health inspectors to survey which chains are the direst and cleanest.
In these different states they found dead rodent traps, things that don't belong in food and illnesses. This makes me feel disgusted because we eat these fast foods and we don't know what goes on behind the counters. Health inspectors say they can't close down the restaurant but they can give violations. I was shocked that there is a 60% problem that are hazardous to our health because sometimes we cant help but eat a fast food meal once in a while and we can end up with a horrible illness.
I also felt happy because people again are trying to keep up with what is going on with food that we eat.

Food Safety in other States

In this article "Food safety oversight varies greatly by state" is an article about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and CSPI food saftey director to assign letter grades to the 50 states wether they have foodbourne illnesses. I found it shocking that 14 states were given an "F'' (Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and West Virgina.) I found it shocking that 14 states failed the tracking of foodbourne illnesses because it shows that people dont keep track of the illnesses. But 7 states got an "A" (Florida, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington, Oregon, Minnesota and Wyoming.) After reading this article I felt happy that New York wasnt given an "F" it shows somewhat that our food is safe. I also found it shocking that "about 48 million people suffer from a foodbourne illness every year and CDC says 128,000 end up in the hospital from the illnessess each year and 3,000 die.'' I think the CDC should check up more often to lower the illnesses and deaths each year.

Continuation of the Food-Safety Legislation

In this article "Funding fight looms over newly passed food-safety legislation'' they are talking about how after fighting for three votes in the house and two in the Senate they are finally waiting for the bill to be signed by president Obama.
Something that I found interesting was that there would have to pay $1.4 billion cost over the first five years and the Republicans taking over the house will not fund the bill. I wonder what they would do if they need help paying back that money.
After reading this article I feel happy because I have an idea that people are actually out there trying to keep our food safe. Having inspection schedules is a great way to see if our food is spoiled and to make sure it is not reaching where people can buy it.

Food-safety Legislation

The article ''In Sunday-evening surprise, Senate passes food-safety legislation'' is an article about the Senate passing the Food Safety and Modernization Act which is approved. After they would have to send the legislation to a House for a final approval.
After reading this article, I felt disgusted that we have no idea if our food is safe for us. Passing this legislation should be a good thing to the world,it will lower the chance of food borne illness. Also focus on prevention and improving our public health.
In my opinion passing this legislation will definitely improve food companies and how they handle the food. I think that they would inspect the foods and throw away unsafe and harmful foods rather then selling them and possibly having an illness. I wish that there would be a way for food to all be safe rather than unsafe.
